Lo que se veia venir se dió. Acequia se desborda e inunda viviendas en diversos sectores de Imperial.
Desde Carmen Alto hasta Asunción 8 y Las Malvinas, las aguas de la acequia de regadio del Canal Viejo Imperial provocaron la inundación de terrenos agrícolas y viviendas en su recorrido.
Al promediar las 2 a.m de hoy lunes 23 de febrero la fuerza de las aguas provocaron daño tras el desborde en una bocatoma ubicada en Carmen Alto afectando directamente terrenos de agrícolas.
Pero lo mas crítico fue al llegar a la zona urbana como la Asociación de Vivienda "La Primavera" , al ingreso de Imperial viniendo de Carmen Alto-frente al Cementerio, ingresando a las viviendas del sector, construidas en su mayoría de adobe. En el lugar las aguas llegaron hasta una altura aproximada de las rodillas de las personas, por lo que sus enseres y artículos y han quedado inutilizados; más aún las paredes han quedado seriamente afectadas con el peligro de caerse en cualquier momento debido a la gran humedad.
Similar situación se ha registrado en la zona alta del Asentamiento Humano "Las Malvinas" donde también las aguas ingresaron a diversas viviendas.
Pero no solo viviendas ni terrenos se han visto afectados también la Institución Educativa 20147 que se ha inundado afectando aulas y algunos libros de su biblioteca, según algunos reportes de responsables del colegio. Las casas vecinas del plantel , ubicado en la Avenida Benigno Rios también se han perjudicado. La via que tiene un asfaltado reciente se ha visto también afectado como ha ocurrido en las diversas calles de Asunción 8.
Los damnificados han mostrado su total indignación y piden sanción a los responsables ya que esto se pudo haber evitado si se controlaba a los propietarios de terrenos agrícolas en mantener limpia su acequia.
En estos momentos recorren las zonas criticas autoridades de Defensa Civil distrital y del Gobierno Regional para evaluar la magnitud de los daños y atender a los damnificados.
